This gallery presents a selection of colour photographs of Porto produced over more than fifteen years of work in the city. The images come from editorial assignments for international publications, commissions for the Porto and Northern Portugal Tourism Board, projects for public institutions and personal documentary work developed over time.
Much of this material was created for newspapers and magazines such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Libération, Helsingin Sanomat and other international media outlets reporting on the city’s evolution, culture and identity. In parallel, I have photographed Porto extensively for tourism and public communication, producing images that document neighbourhoods, architecture, the riverfront, cultural life and the day-to-day rhythm of the city.
My approach is consistent across all assignments: observe carefully, understand the context and photograph real situations with natural light and no staging. These photographs are not intended as promotional imagery; they represent a factual, attentive reading of the city as it is — its people, its spaces and its everyday moments.
This page is updated regularly and includes images available for editorial licensing, institutional use and fine art printing.
This collection presents a black-and-white body of work produced in Porto over several years. It is a more personal and introspective approach to the city, focused on atmosphere, structure and the quieter elements of daily life. The images are not tied to specific assignments; they reflect an authorial view shaped by long-term observation and continued work in the same streets, neighbourhoods and environments.
The photographs emphasise light, geometry and human presence within the city’s architecture. They stem from the same documentary principles that guide my editorial work — clarity, restraint and respect for real situations — but are developed with a slower pace, allowing space for interpretation and a more reflective reading of Porto.
This gallery complements the colour portfolio by offering a different register: a visual essay on the city’s texture, rhythm and character.
Selected images are available for fine art printing.
